In order to fill up the days with lots of activities for my kiddos, we decided to join the Fishers YMCA. It is a super nice facility, tons of activities, great kids zone, three pools, etc. etc.-a kid's paradise, right? WRONG! So far Molly cries at the thought of having to go into the indoor pool and Monday as I was enjoying my walk on the treadmill I see a sign with my name on it from the kid zone. My immediate reaction was that one of them was hurt. I go over to the lady and she tells me that my kids are crying and very upset...REALLY, my kids who talk to every person at a retail store and run away from me?? REALLY!
So I proceed to pick up the rascals with the tears in their eyes. I completely ignore the fact that they are crying and I'm just a slight ticked off that I've been pulled from my time of "peace" because they don't want to play. We get in the car and I simply tell them that there is nothing wrong with the Y, Mommy would never take you somewhere that would hurt you or cause you to be unsafe. We just don't like it they tell me and we want to play with our friends(the Banks' boys!). I tell the girls you don't have to like it, it may not be your most favorite place to be, but Mommy enjoys going. We are going back to the Y tomorrow and you will go to the kids zone and not cry while Mommy enjoys 45 minutes by herself. I ask: Do you want a happy mommy? Yes. Well, don't cry at the Y! I ended the discussion there.
We get up the next day and head back out to the gym...no crying, no tears, happy children. Picked up girls and headed to the park for a picnic on a beautiful day...all of this = a very happy Mommy!!
