We try to sit at the dinner table as a family. Some nights work great, others not so great! Last night, our table was somewhat peaceful and our conversation went like this:
Dave was mentioning to me that one of his co-worker's son was in the hospital and having several test run. They're unsure exactly what might be wrong and I was commenting on how difficult that must be. We continued to talk. Suddenly Molly interjected from her meal of porkchops, pasta and corn saying..."Mom, we must bring them a meal." Dave and I looked at each other somewhat amazed. Dave said, "That's a great idea." I commented, "Absolutely!"
I try to bring a meal to familys in time of need: a new baby, a death, an illness. etc. Molly and Kate typically sit in the car while I run it in.(not thrilled to sit, but they know the routine!) Last Sunday, we brought a meal to our neighbors. Molly enjoyed explaining to Mr. Joe exactly what was for dinner! Melanie, our neighbor, is undergoing chemo. Please keep her and her husband Joe in your prayers.
I post this story because there are many times throughout the day when I feel frustrated, overwhelmed and completely exhausted! I'm wondering why I'm trying to do so much and if I'm setting the right example for my children. Well, last night gave me a little insight that my children are learning from my actions and hopefully they speak louder than my words:) On this note...we must get to cooking!
Molly and Kate,
Continue to be kind and caring to all you meet.
Love,
Mommy
