This story I have told several times, so here it is...
Molly, in her suddenly somewhat profound higher-level thinking, has been asking me some questions that I must say... stump me.
"Mommy, is Jesus real or pretend?"
"Real honey, why?"
"Well, I can't see him. He doesn't talk to me."
Hmmm... So, I start my babbling of how he was on earth years and years ago, he's the son of God, Mary's his mother, we're getting ready to celebrate his birthday, etc. etc. etc. At this point, she's obviously not listening but I'm continuing to explain.
"Things that are pretend are things like....Barney, Chuck E. Cheese, SANTA CLAUS, Dora"
AHHHH... Did I REALLY just say that!!!
"Santa is pretend????"
"ABSOLUTELY NOT, he is REAL! (Annie, think of something quick!!!) But you know, the blow up Santa's in people's yards and the Santa statues at Wal Mart, Kmart,... Those are PRETEND!"
"Yeah, you're right mommy!!"
SOOOO...I think I have saved myself at this point. We have had breakfast with Santa, visited with him at the mall(he's the real one you know!) discussed the "pretend" Santa blow ups, etc.
Although, I'm learning my babbling on and on needs to stop before I get myself into more trouble:)
